Recently
a massive fire breakout because of a gas well blowout threatened the
biodiversity of the Dibru- Saikhowa National park.
The
centre of this news is the state-owned Oil India Limited which has managed to
get environmental clearance to expand its hydrocarbon testing and drilling
activities in the eco-sensitive Baghjan area of Assam’s Tinsukia district without
any public hearing clause. Two employees lost their life in this tragedy.
